1st Match Quetta Gladiators VS Islamabad United: PSL 5 has been the most awaited event for the last 2 months for Pakistan. Now it’s time when the wait is over and PSL 2020 is on the road. 20 February is the day when the opening ceremony wins the heart of all Pakistanis.
The opening match was played between the defending champion Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United at National Stadium Karachi. This was a big match as two champion teams played it. Quetta won the toss but elected bowl first. On the very first ball, Islamabad lost his opener batsman Colin Munro. Muhammad Nawaz made Quetta happy for this wicket.

Later on, Luke Ronchi and David Malan played well, but Ronchi could make only 23 runs and went back to the dressing room. David Malan played a good innings and made the very first fifty of PSL 5 by making 64 run son 40 balls. He hit the ball 5 times for fours and 3 times for six. Hussain Talat tried to help Malan and made 19 runs.
After Talat, Colin Ingram came to the battlefield but could score only 6 runs. Asif Ali made only 19 runs, and the skipper Shadab Khan fell on 8 score. Fahim Ashraf played a 20 runs innings with 4 fours. Amad Butt, Muhammad Musa, and Akif Javed couldn’t break the egg.

Islamabad united could score 168 runs in 19.1 overs. Mohammad Hasnain picked 4 players in return of 25 runs in 4 overs. Ben Cutting got 3 wickets in 4 overs in return of 31 runs. Muhammad Nawaz bowled 2 overs and got 1 wicket with 17 runs. Sohail Khan bowled 2.1 overs and got 2 wickets as he gave 21 runs. Abdul Nasir and Fawad Ahmed didn’t get any wicket.

Quetta couldn’t have a good start as their top order batsman Jason Roy played only 2 balls and got LBW by Muhammad Musa. Shane Watson was in the ground and Gladiators had hope. But Watson couldn’t stay for a long time and got run out on the ball of Muhammad Musa. The throw was thrown by Akif Javed. Watson scored 15 runs and total was 20 when he got out.
At this situation, the match was gone from Quetta Gladiators. Soon after Shane Watson, Ahmed Shehzad picked up by Musa again and Quetta faced a third loss of 26. After that, the skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and the son of Coach Moeen Khan, Azam Khan, tried their best to recover their team. The partnership between Azam Khan and Sarfraz was 62 when Sarfraz fell down on 88 total runs. He made 21 runs.
Azam Khan made 59 master blaster runs on just 33 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. Muhammad Nawaz made 23 runs, and after him, Ben Cutting increased the team score by making 22 runs and remained not out. Sohail Khan fell down on 18 runs. Quetta won this match by 3 wickets.
Match was in the tough condition when Quetta needed 17 runs of 15 balls, but Muhammad Musa threw a no ball and Luke Ronchi missed that ball for 4 runs. On the next ball there was a six. In this way, Islamabad United gifted the match to Quetta Gladiators.

Muhammad Musa got 3 wickets in 4 overs in return of 34 runs. Akif Javed bowled seriously and gave 21 runs in 4 overs having 1 wicket. Fahim Ashraf bowled 3 overs and gave 18 runs. He bowled Azam Khan. Shadab Khan and Amad Butt were expensive bowlers, as they both gave 96 runs in 7.3 overs. Shadab delivered 3.3 overs facing 46 six and having no wicket. Amad Butt bowled 4 overs and got 1 wicket by giving 50 runs.
